Congratulations to Breanne Belfiore who was selected as the winner for the 2008 scholarship award. She is the daughter of Mark Belfiore of the McMurray, Pennsylvania Sales Office and his wife Kathy.

Breanne graduated in 2008 from Chartiers–Houston High School with a 3.95 grade point average. Not only was she able to achieve academic excellence with the grades she received, but she maintained this high GPA while taking advanced classes, working and having a full schedule of activities. To help cover her expenses, she worked fifteen hours a week as a salesperson for Sarris Candies Inc. Her activities included varsity volleyball player, captain of the varsity cheerleading squad, and secretary of her senior class. She was a member of the National Honor Society, foreign language club, S.A.D.D., morning announcers, ski club, mathletes, and participated in the high school musical each year. Beyond academics, Breanne also has shown herself to be valued citizen of the community participating in the Relay for Life, a fund-raiser for cancer, volunteering as a junior cheerleading coach, and volunteer for the local annual pumpkin festival.

In a letter of recommendation, one of her teachers wrote, “In all that she pursues, Breanne performs with confidence, interest, and energy. She is a natural leader; mature, responsible, self-motivated, hardworking, and respected by her peers. She is, in my opinion, a vital, enthusiastic, intelligent young woman who meets the challenge of her education with maturity and real accomplishment.”

Breanne is now attending Pennsylvania State College. We wish this deserving student well in all her future endeavors. With her work ethic and talents that she has shown, there is no doubt she will be successful in anything she pursues.

I was born and raised in the Kansas City area with one brother and one sister. My parents and siblings now live in different parts of the country, so I don’t get to see them too often.

Before I started with A&K, I worked in the oil fields in Texas. I have been working for A&K for one year now. I am the loader operator for the CWR division and also work with the R&D guys out of Kansas City. I am currently working in North Salt Lake on the Utah Transit Authority job. This job is 75 miles of new rail and is expected to go through July of 2009.

I have a daughter, Cameron Michelle Rutledge, who lives in Mabank, Texas. She will be 4 years old in February.

When I’m not working I enjoy basketball, golf and being with friends. And I am newly engaged to a wonderful girl named Cindy Willowbee who is originally from Utah. We are planning to get married on June 27th.

I would like to thank A&K for the opportunities that I have been given. I see a great future here.
